Darlene Gardner worked as a sportswriter for years
before realizing she'd rather make up quotes than hope some
athlete would say something interesting.
After writing books about festering small-town secrets
and babies switched at birth, she had another realization:
Writing romantic comedy would be a whole lot more fun.
She's been concentrating on the lighter side of love ever
since.
Darlene graduated from Penn State, grew up in the
Pittsburgh area and worked for daily newspapers in
Charleston (S.C.) and Fort Lauderdale. She now writes
fiction full time and lives in Northern Virginia with her
journalist husband and two children.
