As far back as I can remember I have had a love affair with books. I loved to escape to faraway lands, have magical or psychic powers and ride a unicorn or dragon—even if it was only for a few hours at a time.
I also loved to write, and many of my teachers encouraged me to go that route but admonished me to 'stop writing the weird stuff and tone down the sarcasm.' But what fun is that?!
My other love was music and playing clarinet and saxophone paid my way through college and I became a band director for a time. And even though I'm now working in technologies (go figure with a Music degree), that is the only excuse I have for not giving in to my love of writing earlier.
My first book contains all my favorite things - music, psychic powers, romance, suspense, a magnetic and steamy relationship and a happy ending. Oh, and did I mention more sarcastic humor? My second book contains many of the same things, but take out the psychic powers and insert kick- butt gargoyle heroines.
In my quest to become a professional writer, I've joined the local chapters of Romance Writer's of America, entered several contests, joined a critique group and most importantly I've lost myself in the joys and trials of writing. I've learned that a hundred rewrites are worth the joy of the finished product and that reading may be one of my favorite escapes, but writing is one of my passions.
