    Third Time Lucky
    by Claire Cross

The first time I met him he changed my life...

How did I get over my crush on Nick? Cold turkey. Okay, I had no choice. He kept disappearing on me. So what did he have to offer anyway? Mystery? Adventure? A sexy grin and killer sense of humor? I haven't given him a second thought...

The second time he stole my heart...

But now he's back in my life. He's turned up after fifteen years, looking (better than ever) for a place to hide, with a story about being framed for murder. Only problem is there's no corpse.

Is the third time the charm?

I'm old enough now to know better and smart enough to not to be seduced all over again by the warmth in his eyes. Then again, it is murder. And he does need a place to stay. But this time it's strictly business. Nothing personal. Just harboring a fugitive. For old times' sake. Lucky for Nick I have a kind heart. And all right, maybe a yen for just a little adventure...

    Claire Cross' Bio

Although I've written historical romances for years as Claire Delacroix, I actually started out writing contemporary romances. Those early book manuscripts never sold: I was told repeatedly that they were too "edge-y". I like edge-y so was pretty excited to have the chance to play at Berkley. A friend of mine calls the Coxwells "the world's most dysfunctional family", which just might be true—they certainly are a complicated bunch. Maybe that was why I had so much fun engineering the healing of each one of the four siblings with the power of love. Claire Cross romances are romances, but they nudge a bit at the boundaries of the genre. If you're looking for something different—not your mother's romances—they might just be the thing for you.
