Karin Huxman thinks of herself as a New Englander having grown up in southeastern Massachusetts, but counts herself as fortunate to have traveled to or lived in many of our fifty states. Her deep love of animals combined with an utter fascination with outer space led to her desire to be the first veterinarian astronaut. She majored in Biology in college and received her commission in the Air Force upon graduation. However, astronaut training was not in her future. She embarked upon an altogether different voyage when she married fellow Air Force officer, Jay, while stationed in Nebraska. The adventure continued when Karin traded in her captain's rank for the higher calling of motherhood. Three children later, she added published writer, novelist, and poet to her list of accomplishments. In 2001, Karin was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing from Norwich University. She has taught writing to adults at the community college level and currently works as a librarian at an elementary school where she serves up her love of books and writing to youngsters daily.
Now calling Colorado home, Karin splits her time between family, work, writing, reading, walking the dog, and keeping tabs on three teenagers, an elderly Siamese cat, and an ever changing number of hermit crabs and fish.
