Lyn Hamilton's archaeological mysteries, featuring globe- trotting antique dealer Lara McClintoch, bring the world to readers. Publishers Weekly said of The Thai Amulet, "the author does a fine job of blending history with the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the Orient." Now, a suspicious suicide, a rekindled flame, and a twenty-five-thousand-year-old artifact lead Lara to the fascinating city of Budapest.
Lynn Hamilton died in 2009, at age 65, of cancer.
Lyn Hamilton is the author of a successful series of archaeological mysteries published by Berkley Prime Crime in New York. The series, the first of which, The Xibalba Murders, was nominated for the prestigious Arthur Ellis Awards for best first crime novel in Canada, features the peripatetic sleuth, antiques dealer Lara McClintoch. Lara travels the world in search of the rare and beautiful for her store, finding more than a little murder and mayhem along the way. Each of the novels is set in a different, and exotic, location, and draws on the ancient past in a unique way.
A long time student of archaeology and mythology, Lyn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the series. As former Director of the Cultural Programs branch of the Ontario government, she was responsible for the licensing of all archaeology in the province, as well as for museum and conservation programs. She visits all of the exotic sites she writes about, and in 1999 led The Maltese Goddess mystery and archaeology tour to Malta to visit the scene of the crime. Lyn, like Lara, is something of an antiques addict.
Lyn's mysteries have been translated into German, Italian, Spanish, Hebrew, Turkish and Russian, and will soon be available in Chinese.
As owner of a Toronto antiques store, Lara McClintoch is obsessed with finding rare and beautiful artifacts. Her travels take her to the ends of the earth and lead her to locales both intriguing and dangerous.
