Tempting Fate
by Meryl Sawyer

NO ONE TO TRUST
To kill or be killed is all in a day's work for covert operative Logan McCord. Kidnapped as a boy, he learned the hard way that vulnerability of any kind can equal death. But thanks to reporter Kelly Taylor, his cover's just been blown. Now the whole world knows that Logan is the long-lost son of a powerful millionaire. Unfortunately, his return to the family estate is rife with danger, as a killer close to home becomes the deadliest threat of all...

NOWHERE TO HIDE
Kelly's skyrocketing career crashed and burned after she made the fatal mistake of trusting the wrong source. An exclusive interview with former kidnap victim Logan McCord, however, could be the key to getting herself back in the game—if it doesn't sideline her permanently. Because someone from Logan's past will do anything to make him disappear forever. And if she gets in the way, this could be the last story Kelly ever writes...

Meryl Sawyer's Bio

THE PERSONAL STUFF:

I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, an only child of a single mom. I credit her for giving me a love of books and encouraging me to write. I was in the third grade when my birthday gift was an ancient Underwood with the E key missing. That didn't stop me. I wrote my stories and went back and put in the missing Es with pencil! I've been writing every since.

Finally, I decided to get serious. I attended the Writers Program at UCLA where I was fortunate to meet Colleen McCullough, author of THORNBIRDS. She was on tour and one of my teachers threw a cocktail party to introduce her to some aspiring authors. She was unbelievably warm, and charming, and helpful. I followed her advice and completed my novel. I was thrilled to have four publishers bid on it, and BLIND CHANCE debuted in July of 1990.

Meryl lives in Newport Beach, California with her three golden retrievers.
