Prosecutor Grayson Charles is on a mission of mercy. His twin brother, Roger, has met with yet another romantic mishap. Grayson dutifully makes time to hear the post- mortem. But just when he thinks the night can't get any worse, a red-haired spit-fire of a woman decides to treat him to an ice-bath--from the waist down.

Grayson vows to get even with the self-assured proprietor of Fair Game, Inc., in the best way he knows how. By taking her to court. But, his court case takes an unexpected turn when the judge sentences Amber to a month of office assistance at Grayson's law office.

Despite her protests, Amber finds herself falling for the handsome lawyer. But, while working in his office, she discovers that the files of Grayson's firm harbor some dark secrets. A dead mouse turns up in her desk drawer. Threatening letters appear on her pillow. All the clues behind these disturbing events lead to Grayson, but she has no proof.

Is it Grayson? Or does someone harbor a more personal vendetta against her?

Stephanie Bedwell-Grime is the author of four novels and over fifty short stories. She is a four-time finalist for the Aurora, a Canadian national writing award.
